The word JANUARY in colorful, textured letters floats above a serene winter landscape.

Lanigan Family Update

January 2026

A bright blue sky with frosted tree branches and the text 'HELLO January'.

Hello Lanigan Families!

I hope you and your family enjoyed a restful and joyful holiday break. We are excited to welcome our Lanigan Dragons back and look forward to our school once again being filled with energy, smiles, and learning.

As we settle back into our routines, students will be spending time this week reviewing our school-wide expectations and what it looks and sounds like to SOAR in different areas of the building. This will be a great opportunity to reinforce positive behaviors, revisit our shared goals, and set a strong foundation for success in the months ahead.

We are excited for all that 2026 has to offer and look forward to a fantastic start to the new year together!

Thank you for your continued support and partnership!

Sincerely,
Tracy

A hand reaches upwards towards the word 'Forgiveness' written in script against a blue sky with sparkling stars.

Character Trait of the Month: Forgiveness

Throughout January we will focus on what it looks and sounds like to embody the trait of forgiveness.

Students who are role models, are good at forgiving those who have done them wrong. They accept that people make mistakes and often give others second chance. They are eager to provide grace over revenge.

🍎 Attendance Spotlight

We will continue to focus on improving attendance this year, as being present each day is key to student growth and success.
For December, our schoolwide attendance was 88%. Our goal is 90% or better.
  • UPK: 86%
  • Kindergarten: 83%
  • 1st Grade: 88%
  • 2nd Grade: 88%
  • 3rd Grade: 89%
  • 4th Grade: 91%
  • 5th Grade: 89%
  • 6th Grade: 88%

Let's Name the Baby Dragon!

FCSD's big dragon, Thunder is excited to choose a name for our baby dragon! When we get back from break:
  • students will be able to submit ideas for a name at the library until January 16th.
  • The top 3 names will be placed into ballot boxes at each elementary schools' library on January 20th.
  • Ballots will be counted and we will have a new name by the end of the month!
Check out the informational and absolutely adorable DRAGON NAMING VIDEO! We can't wait!

Outdoor Recess and Winter Weather

Our children thrive on exercise, fresh air and sunshine (when we have it). A long as our child watch calculator says it's warm enough to go out- we're headed outside to play! Please be sure your child has a winter coat, boots, hat and gloves. If they wish to play in the snow, snow snow pants are required.

Need help getting warm winter attire for your child? Please email our School-Home Liaison, Ms. LaVine @ alavine@fulton.cnyric.org or call the main office @ 315-593-5470. We are happy to help!
