Hello Volney families!

We hope this note finds you well and that you all enjoyed a restful and joyful holiday break. We are so happy to welcome back all of our wonderful students!
We are ready to start the new year fresh, and wanted to express our sincere gratitude for your continued partnership in your child’s education. Your support makes all the difference!

As we jump back into our routines, we will take time this week to review our school-wide expectations of what it looks and sounds like to SOAR in different locations throughout the school. This will also be an important opportunity to revisit our shared goals and set the stage for success in the months ahead.
Here's to a fantastic start to the new year!
Warmly,
Mrs. Stoddard

Character Trait focus for January: Forgiveness

Throughout December we will focus on what it looks and sounds like to embody the trait of Forgiveness!
Students who are role models, are good at forgiving those who have done them wrong. They accept that people make mistakes and often give others second chance. They are eager to provide grace over revenge.

Baby Dragon

Let's Name the Baby Dragon!

FCSD's big dragon, Thunder is excited to choose a name for our baby dragon! When we get back from break:
  • students will be able to submit ideas for a name at the library until January 16th.
  • The top 3 names will be placed into ballot boxes at each elementary schools' library on January 20th.
  • Ballots will be counted and we will have a new name by the end of the month!
Check out the informational and absolutoly adorable DRAGON NAMING VIDEO! We can't wait!

Biboti visits Volney Elementary!

Biboti was born in the village of Kouetinfla Progouri, in the central west region of the Ivory Coast of West Africa. A dancer, drummer, choreographer, and teacher, he has toured throughout the world. He’s also performed with such disparate artists as Jimmy Buffett and Bruce Willis. In 1997, he came to the United States to co‐choreograph a celebratory show about Africa, Brazil, and the U.S.

Energetic and enthusiastic, Biboti’s intention is to share his love, passion, and joy for dance and drum with the community, uniting and celebrating the diversity of the world’s cultures. We look forward to seeing him in January 16th!

Volney adopts Baby Ivy!

Did you know that our students adopted a baby cow?! Each student has seen photos, received updates and learned so much about the needs, lifestyle and qualities of our very own Ivy during library time!

On December 26th our LMS, Mrs. Schepp will head to visit Ivy in person and get some live footage!
We're so excited to share her progress!

Outdoor Recess & Winter Weather

Our children thrive on exercise, fresh air and sunshine (when we have it). A long as our child watch calculator says it's warm enough to go out- we're headed outside to play! Please be sure your child has a winter coat, boots, hat and gloves. If they wish to play in the snow, snow snow pants are required.

Need help getting warm winter attire for your child? Please email our Home-School Liaison, Mrs. Bowman @ lbowman@fulton.cnyric.org or call the main office @ 315-593-5570. We are happy to help!
