Training vs. Professional Development
For our purposes, training means the nuts and bolts of using technology resources and services; think of it as the "what." Professional development is the "how." It's where the "rubber hits the road'; where using technology in curriulum results in new or improved learning outcomes. This is best practices in pedagogy combined with tech that brings curriculum and skills alive.TIM
The Technology Integraton Matrix provides a framework for describing and targeting the use of technology to enhance learning. The TIM incorporates five interdependent characteristics of meaningful learning environments: active, collaborative, constructive, authentic, and goal-directed.FCSD Tech Tools
The FCSD Technology Department has been working on an internal district list of tech tools that we purchase as well as tech tools that teachers have found useful in while using the "free' or "freemium" versions. Additionally, this spreadsheet contains links to any of the open pilots where we are looking for teachers to pilot a tech tool with students to determine if it warrants further funding/distribution within the district. The spreadsheet for the FCSD Tech Tools is only available to logged in district users and should not be communicated outside the district.- FCSD Tech Tools - Full Spreadsheet (filtered alphabetically by tool name)
