1.) What is ParentSquare?

  • ParentSquare is a secure digital communication platform that connects schools with families and students. ParentSquare is designed to keep parents informed and facilitate participation at school. It provides a safe way for the school principal, teachers, staff, and parents/guardians to:

    • Connect with your child's teacher(s) and with their school
    • Stay current with important information
    • Easily find important links and files
    • See upcoming calendar events
    • And much more... all in one centralized place!

    All school/grade level and classroom communication will now be sent to your computer or phone via email and/or text -- or you can download the free ParentSquare App to stay connected on your mobile phone!


2. What do I do with the Remind and FCSD App?

  • Starting this school year, the Fulton Central School District will be replacing the FCSD App (you can delete the FCSD app from your phone as it will no longer function) and Remind app (the Remind app will still be used for FCSD Athletics teams until October).


3. How do I sign up for ParentSquare?

  • Beginning in August, schools will send you an invitation email or text if they have contact information in SchoolTool. This will allow you to click a link and activate your ParentSquare account. 

    If you are a parent and SchoolTool contains your contact details, you can use your email or phone number to set up your account without the invitation.

  • ACTION ITEMS:
    •  Go to www.parentsquare.com/signin. You can also install the ParentSquare app (Android or iOS) and follow the prompts to sign up.
    •  Use Google single sign on, your email or your phone number to set up your account. Your email/phone number must match contact details in SchoolTool for this to work.
    •  If your contact details aren’t recognized, contact your school and they will verify your identity before tetting them added. After they update your information in SchoolTool, the new contact details will appear in ParentSquare after the next daily sync. Then you will be able to create an account.


4. How do I fix or change my contact details?

  • Is the phone number wrong? Do you want to change your primary email? Is your name misspelled? Do you see information for a student who’s not yours?

  • ACTION ITEMS:
    •  Contact your child's school office and ask for your contact information to be updated. Once they verify your identity and update your information in SchoolTool, the changes will appear in ParentSquare after the next daily sync.


5. How do I add a student who's missing?

  • If you are missing a child/school, it may be because:

    • Your contact information is incorrect in SchoolTool and across your child's records.
    • You have more than one ParentSquare account with different contact information.
  • ACTION ITEMS IF ONE ACCOUNT:
    •  Contact your child’s school to update your contact information in SchoolTool. Ensure you have the same email and phone number on file for all children and all schools.
    •  Your account will be corrected when ParentSquare syncs with SchoolTool (daily).

  • ACTION ITEMS IF MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS:
    •  Contact your child’s school to update your contact information in SchoolTool. Verify that each of your children have the same email address and mobile phone number listed for you
    •  Delete your ParentSquare user account(s) that does not have the correct email address (choose “Delete” when accessing your account in ParentSquare).
    •  Your account will be corrected when ParentSquare syncs with SchoolTool (daily).


6. How do I update my language preference?

  • Do you want to have messages translated to another language? Are your messages showing up in the wrong language?

  • ACTION ITEMS:
    •  Login to ParentSquare on the web, click on your name to update your language preferences.
    •  OR, in the app, go to Account > Preferences from the menu. Select your preferred language and save.


7. How do I stop or change notifications?

  • ParentSquare allows parents to customize their notifications based on notification type and select their preferred delivery method for each school. Notification types include:

    • Emergency Alerts & Notices (cannot be disabled)
    • School Alerts
    • General Announcements & Messages

    You can customize settings for email, text and app notifications.

    Setting Definitions:

    • OFF - no notification via this route
    • INSTANT - notification comes via this route as soon as it is posted
    • DIGEST - notifications are compiled into one 'digest' sent via this route at 6pm daily
  • ACTION ITEMS FROM THE WEBSITE:
    •  On your home page select the down arrow next to your name and click on 'My Account'.
    •  Select "Customize Your Settings" under Notification Settings.

  • ACTION ITEMS FROM MOBILE APP:
    •  From your home screen click the triple bar in the top left corner.
    •  Click on "Account," then "Preferences," then "Notification Settings".


8. How do I unsubscribe? I'm not a parent!

  • Sometimes, non-parents get messages from a school using ParentSquare.

    ParentSquare synchronizes with SchoolTool. It contains contact details provided by families (on forms, during enrollment, etc.). Most likely a parent or staff member made a typo, and there is incorrect contact data for a parent or student that matches a real phone number or email. Only the school or district is authorized to update contact details. This maintains security and protects student privacy.

  • ACTION ITEMS:
    •  Please contact the school that is sending you messages to have them remove your contact details from SchoolTool
