Dear FCSD Community Members:
As you are aware from previous correspondence, the Fulton City School District will discontinue the use of Native American images, names and logos in accordance with New York State directives. We recognize that for some this change may be difficult and for others it is welcomed. Regardless of our individual responses to this change, we now have an exciting opportunity to collectively create an enduring and unconditionally positive identity for our school district.
In January we will begin the process of selecting a new logo and unified identity by forming an advisory committee with members who represent our students, families, educators and community members.
The purpose of the committee is to consider input provided by members of our school community about what our new logo should be. The committee will also assist in developing and implementing the methods by which we will gather input, including surveys and focus groups. In the spring of 2023, the committee will present three possible options to our Board of Education and our school community.
The first meeting of the advisory committee will be held on Monday, January 23,2023 from 5:30-7:00 pm.
If you are interested in serving on the committee or have any questions, please email FCSDBranding@fulton.cnyric.org by the end of the school day on January 9, 2023. To keep the process efficient and effective, committee size will be limited. If multiple volunteers express interest in representing a particular stakeholder group, committee members will be randomly selected from among those interested.
As a community we have so much to celebrate. As a school district, we will strive to display our pride in a manner that unifies us and welcomes others. I welcome your input and will share updates as we move forward.
I wish you all a joyful holiday season and a healthy, happy new year!
Sincerely,
Brian Pulvino
Superintendent
