All About Me

Nice to meet you!

I wanted to be a teacher from a very young age. I spent several summers as a camp counselor and camp director. I have always loved working with people, especially children. I am a graduate of LeMoyne College with a B.S. in Psychology and certification in Regular Education and Special Education. I graduated from SUNY Oswego with a Master's in Literacy and certification in Reading. I began teaching in the Fulton City School District in 2002. I have worked since then as a special education co-teacher, except for one year (2014-15) that I joined the AIS team as a reading teacher. This will be my first year as the classroom teacher in the inclusion room. However, having worked as a special education teacher with first graders for 14 years, I don't feel new! I am replacing Mrs. Rowe, who taught at Granby since it opened, and who is a great friend and mentor. I have a wonderful husband who works at the Jr. High School and 2 beautiful boys, aged 5 years, and 22 months. I have a very close family that is extremely important to me. I enjoy all of my life's roles: mother, wife, teacher, sister, daughter, aunt, friend.

Interesting Facts About Me:
- I was born in Nashville, Tennessee and lived in Memphis, TN as a child.
- I have traveled across the United States (as far as California and Washington) and to Europe (France, Spain, Portugal), but my favorite vacation destination is Walt Disney World!!
- I love learning! I think that my students teach me as much as I teach them. How awesome.
