Fairgrieve Students Read Around the World

Accelerated Readers at Fairgrieve Elementary School have been challenged by Principal Jean Ciesla to achieve 10,000 points by the end of May.
If students meet or exceed that goal, they will be awarded with a fun surprise. School Librarian Barb Senecal joked with students during a recent Morning Express program that it would be neat to see the principal in a hot air balloon since the Accelerated Reader theme is “Reading Around the World.” Once students have reached certain achievement levels, their colorful hot air balloon cut-out will relocate to different continents on a paper tracking display in the hallway outside of the library.
Those who achieve 100 points or more individually by the end of the school year will be invited to join a celebratory pizza party.
Senecal said students have collectively read about 3,400 points worth of Accelerated Reader books since September.
Also recognized at the same Morning Express program were December’s top three Accelerated Readers: Second-Grader Treydon Arcadi with 19.5 points, Fifth-Grader Caitlin Todt with 28.2 points and Second-Grader Benjamin Renfrew with 50.5 points.
