Accelerated Reader

What is Accelerated Reader?
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a reading incentive program for students in first through sixth grade. Students read books and take AR quizzes on them to earn points.

2017-2018 AR Theme: The Wild West

  • AR buttons: Students earn AR buttons as they earn points. Points are available for each 10 points earned up to 100!
  • Strike it Rich with Reading: Track progress in the hall by the library. Students start with a gold mining cart and add nuggets of gold as they meet their goals each quarter.
  • Earn a "brag tag!" Students can earn one each quarter for reaching his or her AR goal.
  • Earn a poster! Students who reach half-way to their grade-level or personal goal by January 13 get to pick a poster.
  • Honorary Sheriffs: a student in each grade level is recognized for earning the most points each month and is included on a hallway display.
  • Students who reach 75 points will have their photo added to the "Best in the West" display.
  • If the students meet the goal of 10,000 AR points by June 1, 2018... Mrs. Sampsell will dress up like a cowgirl riding a horse for the day.
