Lanigan first-ever Color-A-Thon Oct. 24

James E Lanigan Elementary will be hosting their first-ever Family Color-A-Thon on October 24.

“Lanigan is inviting everyone to join them in being more active,” said the coordinator, Nichole Slocum. “Anyone can join in on the Color Run!”

A registration fee of $30 by Wednesday, October 14, earns you a t-shirt, color packet and run entry. Walk-up registrations will be available, but t-shirts cannot be guaranteed on the day of. Raffle prizes will take place before the race followed by a DJ and snacks. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m., and the 5K race will begin at 9 a.m. at the recreation park in Fulton. You can register online at: shop.schoolathon.org/181408. The event will help raise funds for PTA-sponsored events and field trips as well as get families and the community thinking about a healthy lifestyle.

The school is committing to getting their students up and moving this year with events like their free dance fitness nights. Smiling faces filled the school’s gymnasium recently with dancing fun; so much fun, the students and their families may even forget that they are exercising to be healthy.

At the beginning of the year, the school hosted a community block party and open house, which included a nutrition and wellness table. The school’s running club has started up again on Wednesdays and the annual Game Day at the end of the year is always full of fun physical activities.

Lanigan Elementary students get their groove on at a recent Family Fitness
Night; just one of the many events this year that show the school’s
commitment to health and fitness. The school will be doing their first-ever
Family Color-A-Thon October 24.
