Singer Jared Campbell Visits Granby Elementary

Singer/songwriter and inspirational speaker Jared Campbell recently visited Granby Elementary, encouraging the students to practice being superheroes every day by showing respect and doing the right thing.

Campbell’s songs relate to everyday circumstances that may occur in students’ lives: bullying, listening to teachers and making friends. In his song, “Do the Right Thing,” Campbell presents a hypothetical situation and the students are asked to sing in response the action they should take. For example, the second verse presents a story about a new girl in school with no place to sit at lunch. The Granby students shouted “Ask her to sit with you!”

Campbell’s last performance was of a song called the “Superhero” song. Students learned the importance of respect, putting safety first and why they should attend school every day. Most importantly, they realized that they could become just like their favorite superheroes by exhibiting acts of kindness and being a force for good.
