Elementary buildings host grade math event

Fulton City School District sixth-grade students from each of the four elementary buildings recently squared off during a three-round math competition.
Challenged with seven minutes of math fluencies to check speed and pattern recognition, the students also engaged in a Jeopardy round for teams to select questions from each of the sixth-grade standards and a final round of team problem solving.  The students were able to utilize lessons and information learned throughout the 2017-2018 school year to help propel them forward in the friendly competition. Following the main events, all participating students enjoyed pizza and drinks before Team Volney was declared the winning group.
Members of the winning team included: Leanna Rupert, Alyssa Sawyer, John LaPlante and Nickolas Barbagallo. Lanigan competitors included: Geena Abbott, Jacob Atwater, Charlie Chen and Ethan Clark. Joining them were Granby students: Ella Halladay, Grace Kilpatrick, Grady Marshall and Abigail Waters. Fairgrieve competitors included: Dawson Krause, Brandon Howard, Dominic Reidell and Christian Santee.
