AHA receives donation from Fairgrieve

Fairgrieve Elementary students recently trickled into the school gymnasium for a Morning Express program as they dropped spare change and dollars into donation canisters.
Little did they know with each monetary donation they were saving lives. That was the message that Meg Gibbons, American Heart Association Youth Market Coordinator, stressed to all students and staff in a brief presentation. She said it is because of the generosity of so many children and their teachers that other people’s hearts will stay healthy and strong. All donations will be used for research and advancements to help people lead healthier lives, she said.
Kindergartner Harlow Hayward was so proud to drop in 26 cents and contribute amongst some of her peers. Gibbons said that is what it’s all about- being a part of something bigger.
She also encouraged the students to exercise daily to help keep their most important muscle- their heart- healthy and strong for years to come.
The recent collection effort was one of several the elementary school offers each school year.
