FCSD winter concerts bring joy to holiday season

Supporting the arts while enriching students' lives is a key measure in the Fulton City School District educational experience.
The love of music recently came to life as G. Ray Bodley High School students performed in a winter concert featuring the concert, chamber and symphonic orchestras. Conducted by Anna Edele, the concert orchestra kicked off the event with “Alborada,” “Linus and Lucy,” “Alla Tarantella” and “Rockin’ up the Housetop.” The Viocelli chamber orchestra then played “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer,” “Chanukah, oy Chanukah,” “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and “Deck the Halls.” Holiday tunes, beautifully performed by the symphonic orchestra were: “A Mad Russian Christmas,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Waltz of the Flowers” and “Sleigh Ride.”
Special recognition was also awarded to students who were named Area All-State Orchestra participants.
GRB also hosted concerts for its chorus and bands, as did the Fulton Junior High School. Lanigan, Volney, Granby and Fairgrieve elementary schools’ beginning band and chorus members also received the chance to shine during recent winter concerts.
