Fulton teachers donate school supplies

Well over 100 Fulton City School District students will begin the 2017-2018 school year with a starter pack of school supplies, thanks to the generosity of FCSD teachers and community members.

Together, the community and Fulton teachers collected a myriad of basic supplies and backpacks for children in grades kindergarten through twelve. The teachers alone donated enough funds to purchase 100 brand new backpacks of various colors and designs. During FCSD’s school supply distribution event, held recently at Fairgrieve Elementary School, people continued to drop off pens, pencils, notebooks, erasers, glue sticks, binders, backpacks and other necessary supplies. Other items collected came from the United Way of Greater Oswego County’s annual Stuff-a-Bus event.

Karen Noel, Fulton Teachers Association executive vice president, and a handful of other FCSD teachers were on hand to dole out the pre-packed backpacks and bags.

Several children walked away from the event smiling as they showed off their Spiderman, Hello Kitty, animal print and camouflage backpacks ready for that first day of school.
