GRB celebrates high honor graduates

G. Ray Bodley High School seniors who will walk across the stage on June 24 have earned a four-year cumulative average of at least 89.5.
That academic feat has earned 75 students with high honors. For their efforts, the students were recognized during the recent 2017 High Honor Graduate Banquet where they enjoyed a meal catered by Blue Moon Grill, followed by encouraging and congratulatory words from guests, Fulton City School District administrators and guests.
Principal Donna Parkhurst said this year’s high honor graduates represent 26 percent of the total 287 graduates. She thanked each of them for making their mark on GRB and left them with a final thought: life is not about their final grade-point-average, rather GRB’s mission of adapting to change, contributing to society and leading healthy/rewarding lives.
Guest speaker and 2007 GRB graduate, Zachary Merry, spoke about the sense of community that still exists in Fulton, never forgetting one’s roots and to always remember little moments before they’re gone. Fulton City School District Superintendent Brian Pulvino cheered the high honor graduates for the thousands of hours they put in as Fulton students.
“Your tenacity and work ethic have driven you to succeed to be your best,” he said.
Assistant principals Marc Copani and Amy Stephenson presented each high honor graduate with a pin to wear on their gowns during the June 24 graduation ceremony. Salutatorian Megan Nicholson and valedictorian Aryelle Barbagallo also received special recognition gifts.
