GRB’s FBLA members succeed at competition

G. Ray Bodley High School’s Future Business Leaders of America chapter members exceled at the recent FBLA state competition in Rochester.
A group of 11 GRB students joined about 700 of their peers from FBLA chapters throughout the state to compete in over 75 categories which demonstrated career competencies, business knowledge, job skills and leadership skills. During the state conference, students used educational concepts learned in their classrooms and applied them in a competitive workforce environment. According to the state FBLA, participation in the conference included test and performance components.
Advisers Angela Ferlito and Carol Taromina were ecstatic with the students’ performances and said all members of the group proved they are truly future business leaders. Participating students included: Noah Phelps, Alexis Phelps, Fred Porter, Arthur Lincoln, Zoie Bowering, Kylie Jones, Caitlyn McAfee, Vantasia Lopez, Millenia Brown, Cloe Gagnon and Amber Boiko.
Several GRB FBLA members received various accolades during the conference’s awards ceremony. McAfee received second place for personal finance, third place for securities & investments and fourth place for accounting 1. Lopez received second place for healthcare administration, while Brown was awarded fifth place for website design. Third place in introduction to business procedures was awarded to Jones, who was also a finalist in the public speaking 1 category. Boiko was awarded fourth place for economics and Gagnon was a finalist in basic decision making.
Each winner is eligible to attend the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim California on June 29.
