Raider robotics sees success

G. Ray Bodley High School students are robotics champions.

Both Raider Robotics Teams- 6911A Bucky Raider and 6911B Last Minute Rookie- received Tournament Champions Trophies and were awarded the Excellence Award at the 3rd Annual Liverpool VEX Robotics Competition at Liverpool High School.

Twenty-nine teams faced-off in the event, where high school students showcased their design, construction, programming, testing and redesigning skills. GRB students worked hard to meet this year’s Robotics and Education Competition (REC) Foundation challenge of Starstruck, which involved obtaining a higher score than the opposing alliance by getting stars and cubes across a fence into the scoring zone. GRB’s teams also worked collaboratively with Freezing Code, an Oswego robot, as alliance partners to win the competition.

The Excellence Award the teams took home is the highest honor awarded at competition and signifies a team that “exemplifies overall excellence in creating a high-quality VEX
robotics program.”

The next robotics competition, the “Bodley Bot Bash,” will take place Jan. 14 at GRB. The event is open to the public and there is no admission charge for spectators. A total of 26 teams are registered.
