Granby 1st graders learn about oral hygiene

Part of being healthy means taking good care of your teeth. That was the lesson Granby Elementary School students learned when Dr. Frank Fruce, a local dentist, recently visited with the first-grade team.

He spoke to students about the importance of brushing and flossing at least twice per day and making healthy, non-sugary food and drink choices. Students learned several fun oral hygiene facts, including eating an apple as a snack actually helps clean teeth. The first-graders asked questions about a dentist’s role and brushing teeth before Fruce distributed oral hygiene gift bags to each student.

Fruce’s visit was a culmination activity for the First-Grade Human Body academic unit.
